The Armstrong Reserve upgrade works are now complete. The upgrade works include a reconstructed full basketball / netball court, new play equipment, a picnic shelter, footpaths, seating, tables, soft landscaping including garden beds, mature trees and a new irrigation system. A post and rail fence has also been installed along the Wilkins Street edge.

About the project

People standing around a table under a gazebo in a park In the 2018-19 Council Budget, $350,000 has been allocated to upgrade Armstrong Reserve, Newport.

In mid 2017 Council officers met with local residents about their ideas on improving the park. Following this, a shared vision and draft concept plan for the future park improvements was developed, in consultation with the community.

The opportunity to provide feedback on the Armstrong Reserve via the questions below has now closed. Thank you to all who attended the onsite drop in session on Thursday 25 October 2019 or completed the survey below.

If the court size was reduced, there would still be two basketball goals available for shooting hoops. A reduced size court would create an opportunity to incorporate a multi-purpose goal for ball games, without encroaching on the passive use grass area n Required
