Managing and protecting our coastline

Council is developing a important long-term plan to manage and protect the local coastline and foreshore areas. The plan will guide and direct decisions involving how people use, change, develop and manage these important areas into the future.

A critical part of developing the plan involves getting community input, feedback and ideas. So we want to hear from you!

We want to know what you love about the coast, how you enjoy it and how you think it can be improved and protected. We also want to get your thoughts on preparing for climate change and sea level rises.

Have your say on the Coastal Management Plan

How to have your say and get involved.

Share your feedback and ideas to help inform the Coastal Management Plan between Friday 22 March 2019 and 23 April 2019.

You can have your say by:

  • Filling in a short survey
  • Providing your feedback on the interactive map - listing your big issue or big idea
  • Visiting one of the community drop in sessions - look out for the bright yellow ChatterBox trailer.

Surveys and information will also be available at local libraries, community centres and leisure centres.

As part of the consultation process, Council will also be holding workshops with key agencies who are involved in managing the foreshore area.
