Langshaw Reserve play space Corner of Cresser Ave / Third Ave

ANNOUNCEMENT: July 2019

We are pleased to advise that the play space upgrade works will commence in the first week of July!

The play space will be unavailable from Monday 1 July until the end of August 2019 and it will be reopened to public in September 2019. In the meantime, we urge you to utilise the following neighbouring reserves with play spaces:

  • R.J. Cooper Reserve
  • J.J. Ginifer Reserve
  • W.J. Irwin Reserve

The use of other facilities on the reserve such as the oval, cricket nets or the pavilion building will not be impacted during construction.

What we heard

Thank you to all who provided feedback on the draft concept plan. A final concept plan is now available for viewing. We have made a note of all recommendations and suggestions received - some have been incorporated into the concept and some others have been taken on notice for future works. Unfortunately, some of the ideas cannot be implemented at this stage.

You can view the feedback we received from the recent consultation here.

A brief summary of the recurring ideas from the consultation is noted below.

Request for soft matting

Rubber under surfacing has been included around the accessible play equipment. This will improve access and provide a diversity of surface treatments within the playspace.

Request for seating

There are a number of seating options that have been included in the concept design. These include park seats with arm rests, a low platform that can be used as seating or a stage for imaginative play. Where possible seating has been located under the shade of existing trees.

Request for a path around the reserve

We understand that the community would like to see a perimeter path around the entire reserve, not just the play space. The budget that has been allocated for this play space upgrade does not facilitate the inclusion of a perimeter path. A perimeter path around the play space is included in the concept design and this can fit into any future perimeter path around the reserve.

When will works occur?

Works are expected to commence in the first week of July 2019. The play space open to public in September 2019.
