The update of the Hobsons Bay Planning Scheme will present our local policies in a new format recently introduced through the state government's Smart Planning program to simplify and modernise Victoria’s planning policy and rules.

Amendment C131 introduces an updated Hobsons Bay Planning Scheme that follows the new state government format introduced in July 2018. Council’s local policies have been translated into this new format in line with the rules set by state government and where possible new or updated content has been included. You can find out more about the new format planning schemes by clicking here.

The boxes below group together the policies in our planning scheme under different themes. Visit these pages to learn about the new or updated policies and how they direct land use and development outcomes.

It is important to note that the policies listed below that are proposed to be introduced as part of Amendment C131 are specific to Hobsons Bay and should be read in addition to state policies that already sit within the Planning Scheme. State policies will continue to apply to Hobsons Bay consistent with other municipalities.

You can review the state policies that sit within the current Hobsons Bay Planning Scheme (Clause 10) by visiting the DELWP website by clicking here.
