More energy efficient lighting that meets AFL VIC community facility guidelines for training.
What’s Proposed?
Council is in the process of planning an upgrade of floodlighting on both ovals of Loft Reserve.
The upgrade would switch lights from Metal Hallide to LED with the addition of two new poles at the northern end of the north oval to meet AFL Vic community standards for training.
The project will also involve the replacement of the older 18m high poles on the southern side of the south oval with two new 25m poles and LEDs. This will help to reduce the levels of light spill currently experienced by residents adjoining the reserve.
Why is this important?
The purpose of this project is to improve the training conditions to meet AFL VIC community facility training standards, as the aging lighting infrastructure is now beginning to reach the end of its life.
The outcomes we will achieve if able to deliver this project will include:
-
-
Reduced levels of light spill on the reserve.
-
Increased capacity for participation on both ovals, as a result of improved lighting provision across both ovals
-
Passive recreation activation opportunities in the future.
