Proposal

Marigold Avenue Parking Proposal

To keep Marigold Avenue safe and clear for vehicles, including buses and emergency services, we’re proposing new parking restrictions.

A minimum 3.0 metre gap is needed between parked cars on either side of the road. This is required under Road Safety Road Rule 208(7) for clear access for emergency vehicles and buses to pass safely. Marigold Avenue is 6.8 metres wide, which isn’t enough space to allow parking on both sides while maintaining the 3.0 metre clearance. To meet this requirement, we’re proposing changes to on-street parking.

The proposed plans show a staggered parking layout that helps slow down traffic and ensures safe vehicle access. To make this work, around 49 parking spaces would need to be removed, while about 51 would remain. We’ve designed this plan to keep as much parking as possible while meeting safety rules.

Council recognises that this will be a major change for the community and wants to provide the opportunity for residents to seek clarifications and gain more information before we look to move into works in early 2026.
