Have all future activities and elements you would like to see been accommodated in the master plan framework?

Below is a selection of comments for future activities the community would like to be included.

  • I think if you have BBQs you need a toilet.

  • Public toilets.

  • Fenced in play areas

  • Local residents parking issues

  • Most disappointing to see only a basket ball ring. Many players learned on that netball ring. Boys would dominate a basket ball ring. Half courts with both rings like outdoor at queens Rd altona would work much better.

  • More fenced in play areas- not nature borders but actual fencing so families can relax and socialise rather than be at opposite ends of the play areas.

  • Overlooked: better traffic calming measures on Mary St and Cullen St as they are now major thoroughfares for people rat-running to avoid backed-up main roads & notorious for speeding (current speed humps too narrow & people drive straight over).

We asked the community had we missed anything:

Please note: 16 respondents provided an answer for this question, 17 respondents skipped this question.

The below interactive element shows some highlighted comments received throughout the consultation.

We attended the Slow food Market at Mary Street Reserve on the 25th February 2023 - here is what we heard:

  • Not enough space for market stalls in current design

  • Too many paths and entrances into the site

  • Level change won’t work for the market/ make lawn area one level

  • Make RSL deck accessible to public/ market

  • Reduce proposed footpath size and hard surfaces

  • Fence off eastern courtyard to keep it private for RSL use

  • Maintain full sized basketball court as multipurpose court

  • Maintain the basketball court in its current location, away from The Avenue

  • Like the half basketball Court idea, similar to what they have at Edward Reserve, lots of kids use it to shoot hoops.

  • Create some elevation for play

  • Keep some play equipment for younger children

  • Provide public toilet facilities

  • Include trees and landscaping within RSL deck

  • Remove proposed road into car park from Cullen Street

  • Reinstate original car park entry off Mary Street

  • Fence off playground to make up loosing fence around lawn bowls area.

  • Provide lots of seating within playground area.

  • Provide more protection against vehicles coming off The Avenue
