Relocation of trees along shared trail.

Hobsons Bay City Council conducted community consultation between January and March 2023 which sought community feedback on 320 trees planted along the Skeleton Creek and Bay Trails during the 2022 planting season, as well as potential future tree plantings along the trail.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to share opinions and preferences with us, it was all taken into consideration when preparing the recommendation.

At the Ordinary Council Meeting on 9 May 2023, Council resolved to relocate every second tree along the Bay Trail, extending from the rear of 61 Sommers Drive to the rear of 8 Gaskell Court in Altona Meadows. The relocation of every second tree planted will deliver significant canopy to provide shade to trail users and meet the original intent of the planting, while framing future views for the nearby residents.

The tree removals will take place within the next 10 business days.

Should you have any questions about this matter, please contact Andrew Fox, Coordinator Arboriculture at urbanforest@hobsonsbay.vic.gov.au.
