Community consultation occurred between 15 August and 23 September 2022, on the preliminary concept plan. The feedback collected will inform a detailed design, which is scheduled to go out for further consultation in late 2023.

  • Administration and Café zone

    Comments included a desire for the café area to be accessible from outside the building, as well to enable opening hours outside of aquatic and Early Years Centre hours.

    Disability inclusion was a focus of feedback submitted, with respondents indicating a desire to have ample disability access, changerooms and adult change table facilities throughout the centre.

    There were also suggestions to include spaces for children’s parties and shade sails at the front entrance of building.

  • Pool hall zone

    The feedback on this zone includes:

    • a desire for a larger open water area for parents to teach their own children how to swim
    • tables and chairs to be positioned along the lap pools for people to sit/watch
    • large family change rooms
    • wider pool area for more lap lanes
    • eco-friendly/zero emissions facility
    • seniors' friendly facility
    • universal accessibility


  • Wellness centre zone

    Suggestions for the wellness zone include:

    • ice-plunge bath
    • saltwater pools
    • hydrotherapy pool
    • women’s only area (separate saunas/spas/gym)
    • multiple spas
    • hot yoga studio
    • Reformer Pilates studio
  • Early Years and Maternal Child health zone

    Comments on this zone includes:

    • the need for ample parking to support the aquatic centre patrons, as well as kinder parents/carers
    • concerns around co-locating a swimming pool with an Early Years Centre

    As well as concerns and comments around the operational model of the kinder. This was addressed in the frequently asked questions on the project’s Participate page.

  • Health and fitness centre zone

    Feedback submitted regarding the health and fitness centre zone includes:

    • focussing on filtration and ventilation of the zone
    • more storage areas
    • a greater variety of programs
    • consideration of older people in relation to the location of the fitness zone being upstairs
    • and to engage an equipment supplier during the design phase, to ensure the best possible outcome for the area
