A small selection of the comments we received:
-
While I agree with the need to add further "affordable" housing, I don't agree with it being high density in any location as this in general spoils the existing feel of our HB suburbs. Also it concerns me that we forget the people in the development.
-
Protecting our community make-up and ensuring older people are not forced to leave by guaranteeing a good make of housing needs and affordability are in place.
-
I do not wish to have more social housing in Hobsons Bay.
-
Seems pretty standard. Would like to see some stronger words. Like council support and encourage increased supply of xx% over the next 5 years.
-
Housing is an essential need for all humans, and inadequate housing conditions can lead to very significant traumatic experiences during childhood, adolescence and adulthood.
We asked the community to what extent they agreed with the key changes to commitments proposed in the draft policy statement:

A small selection of the comments we received:
-
I agree planning policies should incentivise great developer contributions to make housing affordable and developments offer diversity of housing types and price points.
-
I agree with the amendments but there also needs to be allowances for better road and transportation infrastructure. Rezoning industrial land requires developers to ensure people can travel to and from their homes via public transport.
-
I do not agree with inappropriate rezoning or overdevelopment in Hobsons Bay.
-
Only as long as the commitments remember all stakeholders, residents etc, and remembering the dignity of the end users. High density, multi-storey additions often forget this in their construction.
-
Yes, because it is the council's role to think about the growing needs of the community, and the future community, and making sure this community is equitable and accessible to all different types of people.
