In 2024 we asked how the community used the space, how they travelled there and for any ideas of how to improve it. The highest rated elements the community asked to be included were seating, greenery, picnic tables and trees. The concept design has been developed based on this information.

Key elements included are:

• curved benches and seats with back and armrests
• cafe-style tables
• tree planting
• cycle hoops
• drinking fountain
• new paving design
• widened footway

We are planning some improvements to the footpath area outside the parade of shops on Eames Avenue and around the corner on Millers Road in Brooklyn.

This initiative is part of the Better Places and Spaces project within the Better Places Brooklyn and Altona North program.

Community consultation in 2022 revealed an opportunity to upgrade important community destinations and meeting places in Brooklyn and Altona North - such as Eames Avenue shopping strip - to make them more inviting, safe and functional for the whole community.
