We want your feedback on our policy to build a fairer and more inclusive community in Hobsons Bay

Updating A Fair Hobsons Bay for All

Council’s Draft A Fair Hobsons Bay for All 2024-28 has been developed to ensure that fairness and equity are considered and embedded in all of our decisions and activities.

The Draft Policy has been developed with input from priority populations and the broader community. It updates A Fair Hobsons Bay for All 2019-23, Council’s first integrated social policy framework.

We are now seeking your input on the Draft A Fair Hobsons Bay for All 2024-28.

You can share your feedback by completing our short survey or making a more detailed written submission. Your responses will help shape the final draft, which will be considered for adoption by Council later in 2023.

In 2018, a detailed review of Council’s social policies recommended combining five existing policies, plans and strategies into one integrated social policy. All demographic groups from Council’s previous social policies, plans and strategies were incorporated into the integrated social policy as ‘priority populations’, with the addition of First Nations people.

In October 2019, Council adopted A Fair Hobsons Bay for All 2019-23. The policy is based on the principles of social justice which encompasses equity, access, participation, and human rights. It aims to ensure that equity and fairness are embedded in all of Council’s decisions and activities, including planning and delivering services, programs, and facilities.

In 2023, Council commenced work to update A Fair Hobsons Bay for All 2019-23, including extensive preliminary engagement with priority populations and the broader community. A Draft Policy has now been prepared and we are seeking your feedback.
