Council has finalised the concept plans to upgrade Maddox Road between Mason Street and Railway Parade in Newport.

The plans include pedestrian crossing upgrades at 12 sites, a new roundabout at Woods Street, removal of noisy rubber road humps, new asphalt traffic calming, a 40 km/h speed limit, a northbound protected bike lane, future-proofing for a southbound bike lane, and investigation for a truck ban.

The project analysis and concept planning were funded by the Transport Accident Commission's grant program.
