Williamstown Swimming and Life Saving Club Redevelopment

18 June 2025

In April 2026, Hobsons Bay City Council and the state government agreed for the project to be assessed as a state project moving forward.

The change means the Victorian Government are assessing the project as it continues through the planning process, which will continue to ensure transparency, accountability and integrity.

Following the endorsement of the What We Heard Report and the Updated Concept Plans at a recent Ordinary Council Meeting held on Tuesday, 29th April 2025, we can now to share these documents with you.

The updated concept design reflects club and community feedback gathered from the first stage of consultation and subsequent meetings with a range of key project stakeholders. The concept plans include the core life saving requirements the Club needs to serve the community for many years to come, as well as the necessary amenity upgrades required within the immediate precinct.

The plans include:

  • Retention of the swimming pool
  • Improved storage areas and amenities
  • Retention of Members Lawn
  • Retention of the existing kiosk and public amenities, with provision for additional public amenities.
  • New observation tower, first aid room, active training room, change rooms and meeting spaces
  • Improved landscape and urban design treatments surrounding the site for broader community benefit.
