Public exhibition of draft LAMPs

Council has developed Local Area Movement Plans for the northern area of Hobsons Bay (Northern LAMPs) incorporating the suburbs of Brooklyn, Altona North, Newport, Williamstown North, Spotswood and South Kingsville. The Northern LAMPs aim to improve the way our community travels through our city on roads, public transport, the cycling network and footpaths.

Following the review of community feedback shared throughout this project, the draft LAMPs are available on public exhibition.

This is the final opportunity to have your say, and we would love to hear your feedback through the survey below, submitting further comments to the Northern LAMPs Project Team by emailing projects@hobsonsbay.vic.gov.au or phone 1300 179 944.

Project background

Council has developed Local Area Movement Plans for the northern area of Hobsons Bay (Northern LAMPs) incorporating the suburbs of Brooklyn, Altona North, Newport, Williamstown North, Spotswood and South Kingsville. The Northern LAMPs aim to improve the way our community travels through our city on roads, public transport, the cycling network and footpaths.

The Northern LAMPs will deliver a five year framework to guide Council’s infrastructure planning and implementation and assist with advocacy to state and federal governments to help maintain a safe, well connected, efficient and accessible transport network.

Earlier in the project, we asked a range of questions to understand your experiences using the Hobsons Bay transport network. The feedback provided during this phase of this project was reviewed to develop three draft LAMPs with proposed actions within the following locations:

  1. Brooklyn & Altona North
  2. Spotswood & South Kingsville
  3. Newport & Williamstown North

Between May and June 2021, community members were invited to explore the three draft LAMPs including the proposed actions before sharing their feedback within each of the tabs below or in-person during one of our many pop-up community engagement sessions. Artistic impressions

The artist impressions are conceptual only - they are graphic representations that are intended to show some initial ideas, principles and opportunities and should not be viewed as prescribing final or specific outcomes. They have been generated as a starting point to help stimulate input and discussion and will evolve with community input and ongoing design.

Provide a signalised intersection at Millers Road and Eames Avenue or Nolan Avenue to improve accessibility into and out of Brooklyn.
Provide a two-way cycling lane on the south side of McLister Street and provide on-site school drop off / pick up area.
Pedestrian refuges along Blackshaws Road to provide safer pedestrian crossing points.
